Teams
The purpose of the Norman NEXT Teams is to afford young professionals the opportunity to become engaged in the Norman community.
The Norman NEXT Teams are really what make Norman NEXT a unique organization and not just a social one. Through Norman NEXT, we provide different avenues for young professionals to get involved in the community, depending on their areas of interest. Those avenues are through the five Teams: Special Events, Next Generational Leadership, Community Activism, Government Relations and Membership Development.
Government Relations
Co-Chairs: Scott Martin and Chebon Marshall.
The Government Affairs Committee is committed to providing Next members with an opportunity to get involved and engaged in the public policy discussion with the hopes of making a positive difference for the future of Norman. We will accomplish this by providing members access to their city, county, state and national elected officials and a chance to get involved in the political process. We will encourage voter participation and provide voter education.
Special Events Team
Co-chairs: Lynann Sterk and Katie Griffin
The Special Events Team coordinates monthly social networking events that provide young professionals the opportunity to meet and engage with one another. Members of the Special Events Team help identify and secure locations and food for NEXT Hour, usually held on the second Thursday of each month, and coordinate semi-annual combined YPO events that bring together metro area young professional groups. Members’ responsibilities also include negotiating with vendors, helping to establish event sponsors and providing man-power for set-up and breakdown of events.
NEXT Generational Leadership
Chair: Brandon Brooks and Justin Covey
It is the goal of the Next Generational Leadership Team to explore and provide opportunities for Norman Next members to develop tangible leadership skills and strengthen their influence as young professionals. Through intergenerational mentoring, engaging speakers and meaningful workshops and seminars, members will take away valuable insight.
