An Active Community Membership

The goal of the Community Activism Team is to engage young professionals through community involvement and volunteerism with Norman’s social service organizations. NEXT accomplishes this through several different ways.

In November 2008, Norman NEXT hosted a combined charity event, “Communities Collaborating for Cause”, with the Edmond and OKC Young Professionals Organizations. Each organization chose a charity in their community to support for the event. Norman NEXT invited its members to “fill the trolley” for The Christmas Store of Cleveland County.

The Norman NEXT Community Events Team hosted a “Trick or Treat for Cans” event in November 2009, which helped stock the pantries for two local non-profit organizations, Food and Shelter for Friends and Meals on Wheels.

Beginning in July 2010, NEXT will challenge its members to complete 500 hours of community service leading up to participating in the Day of Caring with the local United Way.
